Choir

Men’s Choir (Men's Chorus Level 1-4) is a non-auditioned group of males made up of mostly 9th graders and singers from other grades who have never taken a choir class.

Women's Choir (Women's Chorus Level 1) is a non-auditioned group of females made up of mostly 9th graders and singers from other grades who have never taken a choir class.

The TCHS Concert Choir (Women's Chorus 2-4) is an auditioned group of mostly 10th – 12th graders who have previous choral experience at TCHS.

Mixed Choir (Mixed Chorus 2-4) is an auditioned group of skilled musicians in mostly 11th-12th grade.

TC Singers (Chamber Chorus 1-4) any 11th – 12th grade student who has completed or is currently enrolled in at least Mixed Choir and wishes to continue his/her study of choral music in a small group setting.

Select Show Choir is an auditioned, extra-curricular choir. Members of show choir must be a part of another TCHS Choir and must be willing to rehearse after school.

The choral department Pancake Breakfast is generally held in the early fall each year. All choirs perform at this event.

Men's, Women's, Concert, and Mixed Choir perform at the TCHS Veteran's Day Program. Students sing patriotic songs and wear their formal uniform. 

The TCHS Choral Department Christmas Concert is usually held in early December each school year. This is a formal concert featuring all choirs in the choral department. 

The TCHS Choral Department Showcase Concert is usually held in early spring of each school year. At this performance, students from all choirs present musical theatre and pop music. 

The TCHS Choral Department Spring Concert is usually held in early May of each school year. This is a formal concert where we perform the best of what we have learned throughout the year. 

The Alabama All-State Choral Festival is a three-day event culminating in a professionally recorded concert. The festival is an opportunity for students with outstanding ability and initiative to sing under the direction of nationally recognized choral clinicians, perform choral literature of the highest quality, and receive public recognition for their achievements.

The Alabama ACDA Young Voices Festival is a two-day event culminating in a concert. This is a unique opportunity for 4th-10th grade public school, homeschool, community, and church choir students in the state of Alabama.

The Alabama All-State Show Choir is an elite performance ensemble made up of Alabama high school students. They audition with a rigorous vocal and dance audition, are selected to the group, then learn and present a show chosen by their clinicians at the AMEA Festival.

The TCSS All-County Choral Festival is an opportunity for students from all TCSS schools to join together with other choir students from the TCSS system and learn challenging choral music.

Most universities offer 1 or 2 day honor choir events. During these events, students visit the university campus and participate in a large choir with students from other schools.

Solo and Ensemble is an adjudicated event that gives interested students an opportunity to receive feedback on their individual and small ensemble performances. Soloists and ensembles perform, from memory, two selections for one judge in a closed setting.

The Future Alabama Music Educators (FAME) Workshop is a one-day seminar sponsored by the Alabama Music Educators Association and held in conjunction with the January AMEA Professional Development Conference. This seminar is for 11th and 12th grade high school students who have an interest in pursuing a career in music education to meet and interact with current music educators.
