Our Beliefs

At Tuscaloosa County High School, we believe:

Student learning should be the primary focus of all decisions impacting the work of the school.
Varied instructional approaches address students’ different learning styles and actively engage them in the learning process.
Each student is a valued individual with unique physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs, which may require special services and resources.
A modern facility providing a safe and physically comfortable environment promotes student learning.
Students work and learn best in a school environment free from substance abuse and the threat of violence.
A culturally diverse student body increases students’ understanding of different peoples and cultures.
Teachers and administrators should provide clear and effective leadership.
Clearly stated rules combining strong discipline and students’ needs ensure that students and parents understand standards, rewards, and punishments.
The school should provide opportunities to develop logical thinking skills for solving problems and making responsible decisions.
The active cooperation of the family, school, and community will result in the opportunity for each student to achieve his or her full potential.
The school should provide students with the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities and organizations in order to develop confidence, pride, responsibility, self-discipline, and cooperation.
